User experience gives the edge for online high street retailers

Traditional high street retailers have been aware of the benefits of an online presence for some time now, but it still takes a lot of trawling around to find where those web experiences match those you would expect from the same brands in their high street stores.

Thankfully user consultancy group webcredible has done some research into just this field and found that John Lewis tops their list of 20 high street retailers for best high-street retailer website. Coming second was Early Learning Centre, closely followed by M&S and WH Smith. Each site was evaluated against 20 best practice criteria to gain an overall score from 100 possible points. John Lewis topped the list achieving an outstanding 91 points. At the bottom end of the scale was Monsoon/Accessorize with 59 points.
