Online Sales Growth Continues (Despite the Weather Conditions)
How was your Christmas? White?
For many of us up and down the country the snow affected our ability to go about our normal daily lives, and at a time of year when many of us needed to get the Christmas presents bought, where better to turn than online? All well and good, except that snow and ice on the majority of Britain’s roads also meant that delivery companies struggled to meet demand. They were already experiencing their busiest period of the year, and with the addition of the snow for a sustained period, this added to the burdon.
However, despite all this doom and gloom, Retailers did have something to smile about – increased sales online. According to recent figures released by the BRC (British Retail Consortium) online sales for the Dec period were 18% higher than Dec 2009, and whilst the report does reflect on the downturn in sales overall due to the weather effect, this news is still proof enough that even in the toughest of climates (both economically and physically) online sales are still able to show growth.
